Menarche
Menarche is the first menstruation and marks the beginning of puberty for girls.
In most girls, menstruation occurs between the ages of 11 and 13, but it can happen as early as 8 years old or only later (up to 16). It occurs approximately two years after breast development. In the first two to three years, menstruation may be irregular; however, if three months pass without a period, a doctor should be consulted.
