An abdominal ultrasound is an examination that allows for the evaluation of the main organs in the upper abdomen. The abdomen contains several structures and corresponds to the anatomical region commonly known as the "belly."
In an abdominal ultrasound, or upper abdominal ultrasound, the main accessory organs of the digestive system are evaluated, including the liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. The spleen is not part of the digestive system, but it is also evaluated in this examination.
